A Journey Through Food, Beer, and History

Our place brings the past and present together. We’re proud to serve great meals, pour craft beer, and share the story of our town’s deep railroad roots.

A History That Moves You

A History That Moves You

At Runaway Train Brewery, our story began with the tracks beneath our feet. Right here in Honesdale, PA, the first steam engine in America rolled through in 1829. The D&H Railroad helped shape this town—and today, we’re proud to honor that past with every pint and plate we serve.

Brewing from the Cliff and the Heart

Brewing from the Cliff and the Heart
In 1851, beer was stored in caves beneath Irving Cliff to keep cool. That cliff still watches over us today at 2 Chapel St in downtown Honesdale. We built Runaway Train to carry that story forward—a place where locals, tourists, and families can come together. It’s more than a meal or a beer—it’s a way to share history, enjoy the present, and connect through something real, made fresh every day.

Real Food, Cold Beer, and Good Times

Real Food, Cold Beer, and Good Times
At Runaway Train Brewery, our kitchen and brewery work together to serve fresh, scratch-made meals like smash burgers, wings, and Cuban sandwiches. With up to 14 craft beers on tap—including IPAs and pale ales—there’s always something new to try. Enjoy it all in a space built for fun, with indoor and outdoor seating, live music, and a game room with pool, darts, and shuffleboard. It's easy to relax here.

Why We Keep Rolling

Why We Keep Rolling
We do this because we love this town. We love its history, its people, and the energy that runs through the tracks. At Runaway Train Brewery, our mission is to build a place that’s full of life—just like the trains that once ran through it. That’s why we say: Hop aboard.
